Quantitative determination of carbon monoxide in blood by gaschromatography.

چکیده
The gaschromatographic determination of CO in blood has been simplified by using carbon molecular sieve columns for separation of gases. Regeneration of the columns is necessary only after 1000 and more analyses. Moreover, a more simple procedure for evaluating the CO concentration was developed. This procedure is suitable for routine determination in the sensitivity range of 0.2—100 % COHb in blood or 0.25 /i to ml/1 in air.

End-tidal Carbon Dioxide Measurements in Unintentional Non-Fire-Related Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Background: Poisoning with carbon monoxide occurs occasionally worldwide, and the gold diagnostic standard is to measure carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood. This study investigated the correlation between carboxyhemoglobin and the end-tidal carbon dioxide levels in 50 patients with carbon monoxide poisoning. Methods: We recruited 50 volunteer patients who had been admitted to the Emergency S...
متن کاملDetermination of carbon monoxide in blood.
Methods suggested for the determination of carbon monoxide in blood may be considered as belonging to either of these two classes: first, those in which the relative content of carbon monoxide in blood is measured; second, those in which the absolute quantity of carbon monoxide per given quantity of blood is determined. In the first class, the result is expressed as the percentage saturation of...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF HYPOXIC HYPOXIA AND CARBON MONOXIDE-INDUCED HYPOXIA ON THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM AND REGIONAL BLOOD FLOW OF THE ANESTHETIZED CAT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential responses of the cardiovascular system and regional blood flow to hypoxic hypoxia (BB) and to carbon monoxide (CO)-induced hypoxia (COH). Ten anesthetized cats were studied under two nonnoxic (control: CONT) and two hypoxic conditions. Four types of radioactive micro spheres were used to measure regional blood flow during CONT an...
متن کاملA modification of the spectrophotometric determination of carbon monoxide in blood enabling direct determination of per cent hemoglobin saturation.
BECAUSE OF VARIATION in hemoglobin concentration in normal bloods with age and sex (1), the per cent carbon monoxide saturation of hemoglobin represents a more accurate toxicity index than the volume per cent of carbon monoxide. In 2 of the most common methods of carbon monoxide determination in blood, the gasometric method of Van Slyke (2, 3, 4) and the spectrophotometric method of Harper (5),...
متن کاملA method for the determination of carbon monoxide in blood.
Methods for the determination of carbon monoxide in blood based on spectroscopic analysis (Hartridge, 1922; Klendshoj, Feldstein, and Sprague, 1950) are accurate only when relatively high concentrations of carbon monoxide are present. The two most accurate methods in current use are the manometric method of Van Slyke and Salvesen (1919) and the volumetric method of Scholander and Roughton (1943...
